Authorization in SinglePoint: Roles, Entitlements, and Why Access Gets Blocked
In many corporate portals, a user can authenticate successfully and still be “blocked” from actions. That’s not an access problem—it’s an authorization problem.
Roles and entitlements (plain English)
- Role: a bundle of permissions (view-only, initiate payments, approve, admin, etc.).
- Entitlement: what accounts, services, or limits the role applies to.
Common patterns that cause missing access
- User is created but not linked to the right accounts
- Approval rights require a second approver (dual control)
- Limits are set to zero or below required thresholds
- Feature is enabled for the company, but not granted to the user
How to diagnose quickly
- Compare the affected user with a known-good user in the same team.
- Identify exactly what’s missing: account, menu item, button, report, approval queue.
- Record the time and steps so admins/support can check audit logs.
Safe escalation notes
Never share passwords or MFA codes. Provide screenshots that do not expose confidential account identifiers.
